Early Life and Family Background

Arch Manning was born on April 27, 2004, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the eldest son of Cooper Manning and Ellen Heidingsfelder. Growing up in a football-centric family, Arch was exposed to elite-level football knowledge and training from a young age. His younger brother, Heid Manning, played center for the Newman football team and also excelled in lacrosse.

Being a member of the Manning dynasty, Arch inherited not only football talent but also a legacy of professionalism and discipline that shaped his development on and off the field.


High School Career

Arch attended Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, where he quickly established himself as a prodigious quarterback.

  • 2019 (Freshman Year): Arch became the first freshman quarterback to start Newman’s season opener in at least 40 years. He finished the season with 2,509 passing yards and 34 touchdowns, earning MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year honors.
  • 2020 (Sophomore Year): Manning passed for 1,919 yards and 21 touchdowns, also contributing 224 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns. He made his national TV debut against Booker T. Washington, throwing two passing touchdowns and rushing for two more.
  • 2021 (Junior Year): Arch threw for 1,841 yards and 26 touchdowns, adding six rushing touchdowns while helping Newman reach the playoffs.

College Recruitment

Arch Manning was one of the most sought-after high school quarterbacks in the nation. He maintained privacy to avoid media hype, sharing his private Instagram only with friends and coaches, including Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin.

He visited top programs including SMU, Clemson, LSU, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Virginia, and Ole Miss. On June 23, 2022, Arch officially committed to the University of Texas, where he enrolled in 2023.


College Career

2023 Season

Arch made his collegiate debut on November 24, 2023, against Texas Tech, completing 2-of-5 passes for 30 yards. He was redshirted after the season.

2024 Season

Arch took over in games when starter Quinn Ewers was unavailable. Highlights included:

  • Debut vs. Colorado State: 5 completions for 95 yards, 1 passing touchdown, 1 rushing touchdown.
  • Game vs. UTSA: 223 passing yards, 67 rushing yards, and five total touchdowns (four passing, one rushing).
    He was named SEC Freshman of the Week, Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week, and included in the Davey O’Brien Award Great 8 list.

2025 Season

Arch was named starting quarterback for the preseason #1 Texas Longhorns.

  • First game vs. Ohio State: Completed 17 of 30 passes for 170 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
  • Week 4 vs. Sam Houston: Completed 18 of 21 passes for 309 yards, 3 passing TDs, and 2 rushing TDs. He became the fourth Texas QB with at least two passing and two rushing touchdowns in a game.
