Avengers Doomsday Promo Recreates Iconic Doctor Doom Kills Thanos Moment

Disney recently unveiled a stunning Avengers: Doomsday light show promo at the Marketing Expo in Shanghai, China, recreating the infamous moment from Marvel Comics when Doctor Doom kills Thanos. This scene, originally from Secret Wars (2015) #8, is widely considered a pivotal event in Marvel’s comic book history.

Doctor Doom vs. Thanos: The Comic Book Origin

In Secret Wars #8, following an incursion between Earth-616 and Earth-1610, Doctor Doom ascends to God Emperor Doom with the powers of the Beyonders and establishes Battleworld, ruling as its ultimate divine entity.

During his reign, Doom faces opposition from multiple forces, including Thanos and the Annihilation Horde, who launch an assault on Doom’s Citadel amid widespread chaos.

The climactic confrontation sees Doctor Doom confronting Thanos. In the comics, Thanos confidently declares he doesn’t need the Infinity Gauntlet to win—but Doom proves him wrong, killing the Mad Titan. While this death isn’t permanent, it had a lasting impact on fans and cemented Doctor Doom’s place as one of Marvel’s most formidable characters.
