Telegram’s tap-to-earn game, Hamster Kombat, has gone viral, attracting 250 million players eager for the upcoming token launch. Recently, the game referenced a real-world event—last weekend’s failed assassination attempt against Donald Trump.
The new ‘Fight fight fight‘ special card in the game shows cartoon hamsters recreating the iconic photo of a bloodied Trump raising his fist.
The card’s subtitle reads, ‘Hamsters never give up,’ with a description saying, ‘You are a strong manager and nothing can stop you.’
This card is a playful version of the famous shot by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Evan Vucci at Trump’s Philadelphia rally. In the game, the Trump stand-in is still bleeding from the ear and raising his fist, with Secret Service protectors holding him. The American flag has been swapped with the game’s logo.
On Saturday, Trump reportedly said ‘Fight, fight, fight‘ when he got back on his feet. This phrase has since been used to rally his supporters. Trump even started selling limited-edition sneakers with the phrase and his photo on Wednesday.
Hamster Kombat, playable within the Telegram messaging platform, lets players control their own crypto exchange as a hamster CEO. They spend money on features, upgrades, and marketing initiatives to generate more passive income over time. The game has featured cards inspired by events like the Euro 2024 soccer tournament and crypto conferences.
Hamster Kombat claims to have gained over 250 million players in just three months. This comes shortly after Telegram CEO and co-founder Pavel Durov announced that the game had reached 239 million players as of July 5.
Like the earlier Telegram game Notcoin, Hamster Kombat plans to launch a crypto token on The Open Network (TON) and will allow players to claim it through an airdrop process. This launch is expected to happen sometime this month.
Trump has increasingly embraced cryptocurrency in recent months, despite previously being skeptical. His campaign now accepts crypto donations, and the Republican party has included support for crypto in its draft platform. Trump has pledged to support Bitcoin miners in America as part of this stance.
