Pavel Durov, CEO of Telegram, one of the leading messaging apps, highlighted the significant impact Hamster Kombat, a tap-to-earn game where players take on the role of a hamster CEO of a crypto exchange, will have in attracting millions to blockchain technology. According to Durov’s data, 239 million people have already registered to join the game.

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov believes Hamster Kombat will introduce millions to blockchain for the first time.

The game utilizes the mini-app protocol introduced by Telegram in 2020. However, its popularity surged with the advent of tap-to-earn projects like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat. Durov emphasized that Hamster Kombat’s acceptance led to 100 million users joining in just 73 days. He also mentioned that four to five million users are joining the game daily, making it the “fastest-growing digital service in the world.”

Durov declared that this game will soon play a significant role in demonstrating blockchain’s potential to all its users. In his Telegram channel, Durov stated:

Soon, Hamster’s team will mint its token on TON, introducing the benefits of blockchain to hundreds of millions of people.

“A new era is unfolding before us, and we are witnessing it in real-time,” he concluded. The game’s popularity in Iran has led authorities to view it as a “soft war” tool wielded by the West against Iran’s theocracy. According to AP reports, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, deputy chief of Iran’s military, labeled the game a distraction aimed at diverting Iranians’ attention from the upcoming presidential proposals in anticipation of the elections.

While the exact date of the token airdrop for the game remains to be announced, several platforms are already opening pre-market trading in anticipation of its release.
